All platforms will support curated mods and fan-created content, something that Bethesda shares with the newer ports of. Switch players can aim and shoot using the gyro controls.
There are some surprisingly cool additions out there too. The latter is the key because Quake is primarily known for its excellent competitive modes. It costs $ 10 and includes widescreen resolution support, (slightly) upgraded models, fancier lighting, anti-aliasing, the classic soundtracks (including the original Nine Inch Nails OST), all previously released expansions, and online co-op / deathmatch multiplayer with Crossplay support. Simply titled Quake, this new port promises some nice new features and improvements. (We’re assuming the game will be officially announced and released today as part of a panel at QuakeCon 2021.) Apparently, the improvements for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S will also come at a later date. The extended one has been around for about an hour Quake is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC via Steam and Game Pass.
So it’s nice to see Quake for the 25th anniversary on most of the major platforms.

It was a huge hit, and the technology behind the game would power many other famous shooters of the 90s, including Witches II and Half a life.īut after that lackluster Quake 4, released in 2005, took the series on hiatus until 2017 Quake Champions. Quake is a fast-paced shooter that was first released in 1996 as the full 3D sequel to id’s incredible 1993 landmark Downfall.
